CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT PERFUME RIVER?
Perfume river is a river in Vietnam that’s super polluted and has giant plastic swans you can rent and paddle down it for romantic touristy dates. The inspiration for my work is faux glamour and glorified trash. How it feels to be creative and wanting to make beautiful things but having to make do with the bare minimum of resources. I’ve always been interested in what’s in the neighbours rubbish bin as well and catching glimpses of the high life. I try to glamourise my work by hand painting and beading as well as using usually expensive materials like leather and fur but the faux version. I want Perfume River to include people in the extravagance of fashion while still being accessible.

WHAT ROLE DOES IDENTITY PLAY IN BRANDING?
I try to make my work inclusive and self representative. I want people to see Perfume River and feel like they are getting to know me, and when they wear my clothes they wear a piece of me.

PREVIOUSLY NAMED NYMPHETS, ARE THERE ANY CHANGES TO YOUR BRAND BESIDES THE NAME?
I’ve moved country from New Zealand to London and I’m working with my sister Rebecca a lot which is so good to have a second opinion and ideas and encouragement. Also I’ve changed since I left my home town so my work changes.
