“No matter how hard it gets, there’s something new to learn” – XHOSA
Born and raised in N.Y.C., XHOSA is an up-and-coming artist who experiments with various genres to create a fresh pop sound. After releasing the single “Let Me Go”, she is now following up with a futuristic illustrated lyric-video for track.
Xhosa is now teaming up with an animation artist Cult of Dang to recreate the visual realm she imagined while writing the song.
In her original FADER premiere, XHOSA shares some back story on what inspired the song.
“I started producing this song on a Megabus to Pittsburgh after finding out devastating news,” XHOSA told The FADER over email. “During the rest stop, I really did buy a pack of cigarettes and smoked one even though I didn’t smoke. Lyrically, I told my truth and despite my emotional state, the song’s optimistic quality carried me through difficult times.”
XHOSA hopes that the lyric video will fully showcase her storytelling abilities and expresses the sentiment of emotional vulnerability on a track that otherwise sounds upbeat. After the first viewing you’ll be fully immersed in the world she has created and the infectious melodies will really stay with you.
