HOW DID THE NO SESSO TEAM( (HEADED UP BY PIERRE DAVIS, IN COLLABORATION WITH LEO KING, J. SIMS, AND ARIN HAYES) COMO TO BE?
Everything happened pretty naturally. We all met each other towards the beginning of 2016. As time went on everyone poured their ideas
into different components of the brand. We were always anticipating the next step and eventually began to work more cohesively thus forming the team we have now. Working with this dynamic allows us to more authentically present fashion and art that is inclusive of people
of color, queer-identifying people, and trans women.
NO SESSO INCLUDES A WIDE RANGE OF FABRICATIONS FROM RECONSTRUCTED ITEMS TO INTRICATE EMBROIDERY AND PHOTO-PRINT TEXTILES. EACH PIECEHAS ITS OWN SPECIFIC BEAUTY, AS DO THE PEOPLEWHO MODEL THEM. DO YOU HAVE ANY DREAM CLIENTS OR PEOPLE YOU’D LOVE TO DRESS?

WHAT’S A TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE OF RUNNING NO SESSO?
Right now most of our time is spent completing the fall/winter 2017-18 collection and preparing for the runway presentation. Asides from that
we’re always constantly working towards evolving the brand and reaching a global market.
NO SESSO IS VERY INCLUSIVE, NOT ONLY IS IT GENDER-FREE, IT CELEBRATES THE LOS ANGELES LGBTQ COMMUNITY AND REMAINS ACCESSIBLE WHILE BEING ASPIRATIONAL AND BEAUTIFUL. HOW HAS BEING LOS ANGELES-SHAPED THE BRAND IDENTITY?
Our Fall/Winter 2016-17 collection was inspired by the nature found throughout LA. There were lots of prints including wood, bricks, and aquatic life. Our previous WORKING GIRLS SS17 collection was inspired by the trans sex workers in Hollywood. The garments in that collection were designed to make them feel comfortable and protected but also beautiful as they went about their daily lives. We took a new approach to combining pinstripes and denim with business wear and even corsets to play on the “working girl” theme. Asides from that LA is such a vibrant and beautiful city. It’s that same love and energy that goes into every aspect of the brand.
WHERE DO YOU SEE THE BRAND IN 5 YEARS?
In 5 years NO SESSO will be a global fashion and art powerhouse.
