Friends and Enemies is a brand new streetwear label that has come out of Hamilton, New Zealand from the imagination of two teenagers: Mungo and Panashe. 16 and 18 respectively, and also driven, charming, and handsome, we asked them about their label and what they would do for a friend or an enemy.

WHY DID YOU START YOUR LABEL ‘FRIENDS AND ENEMIES’?
Mungo: Panashe pitched the idea to our group of mates and I told him I’d be up for it. With my business skills and Panashe’s creative side, we had a strong partnership.
Panashe: It had always been a dream of mine to start a clothing label so why not start now? I pitched it to my friends and Mungo was keen on making the idea into a reality.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVE ITEM OF CLOTHING YOU’VE MADE SO FAR?
Mungo: Either the Declaration tee or the Black Gallica track pants.
Panashe: Gallica track pants. The rose patterns and the black and red colors tie in together like humans and oxygen.
WHY DID YOU PICK THE NAME FRIENDS AND ENEMIES?
Mungo: Panashe picked the name when he pitched it to me. I see it as a story of conflict, the disruption between nations, as street wear is becoming a culture in society.
Panashe: Making friends and enemies was and are an essential part of growing up and always is a learning experience. It was personal to me and relative to my school experiences.
WHAT’S THE NICEST THING YOU’VE EVER DONE FOR A FRIEND?
Mungo: Yeah, I pay for the homies op shop gears.
Panashe: I gave my friend $180 to pay off his driving tickets.
WHAT’S THE WORST THING YOU’VE DONE TO AN ENEMY?
Mungo: Probably calling them out for having fake followers and ripping off designer brands.
Panashe: Fought him and stole his girlfriend.
WHO DO YOU THINK HAS AMAZING STYLE?
Mungo: A$AP Rocky has some crazy style, mans can pull anything off.
Panashe: My fashion icons are Travis Scott, Kanye West, Virgil Abloh, A$AP Barii, Rocky, and Nast
WHAT’S NEXT FOR FRIENDS AND ENEMIES?
Mungo: I want to make our dreams a reality, we have so many ideas. We need to put in the hours, but that’ll come. NZ fashion week would be amazing!
Panashe: I want to go global and take on the world cause you got to dream big!
